Must Sees in Dublin

Dublin, Ireland!

The last stop I took during my journey abroad. I wanted to share some of the "Must Sees in Dublin" that were the highlights of my trip.

Our first day was a half day, so it consisted of finding out hotel, exploring downtown, and eating at Crackbird for dinner. This was recommended to me by a friend who studied abroad in Dublin, and it was delicious. They had fried chicken, loaded baked potatoes, and other sides that pair perfectly with chicken. Make sure to split the order of chicken with the table and then order sides per person.

After dinner, we walked through St. Stephen's Green Park, which had beautiful ponds, lots of greenery, and a memorial for those who died during the Potato Famine in Ireland.

The park is located right off Grafton Street, so we stumbled upon this tourist hot spot on accident!

On day 2, we ate at Nutbutter for breakfast. A delicious spot that serves various kinds of porridge, acaí bowls, and toasts. It was my favorite meal on the trip!

It was a cold morning so we stopped for a warm latte at KC Peaches. Their breakfast looked great and we would've eaten here if we didn't just eat at Nutbutter.

On our walk from breakfast to our next location, we passed the well known Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Next we did a walking tour of Trinity College and it's library. We paid $20 for a walking tour and a ticket to see the Book of Kells.

After our tour, we walked to the Guinness Factory for an afternoon of all things Guinness. Their museum has seven floors which include a background on their advertising campaigns, the process of creating a pint of Guinness, how to pour a pint of Guinness, a taste testing room, and a top floor lookout bar. I don't like beer and I am glad I went anyway, because I learned so much about the company and have a new appreciation for them.

On Day 3, we signed up for an all-day bus tour of the Cliffs of Moher and Galway. It was a great way to break up all the walking we had done the last two days, and this was my favorite activity during the trip. We picked the full day trip, and it was well worth it.

The cliffs are very windy, so I highly recommend a ponytail for this day

of the trip.

It also got very cold because of the wind, so I would recommend bringing layers. It went from sunny to pouring rain in ten minutes when we were

on the cliffs.

On our last day, we visited the Dublin Castle, which is now a working building for the Dublin government.

When you sign up for a tour, you get to see the ruins from the castle that existed during medieval times, and you get to see the Castle's church which is no longer in use.

In the afternoon, we walked to St. Patrick's Cathedral. I highly recommend seeing his cathedral and spending some time people watching in the

park out front.

It was a long and crazy summer filled with adventure and a lot of learning opportunities. I am so thankful to everyone who made my time abroad so memorable. Thank you SMU for the opportunity to attend Oxford. Thank you to all my Alpha Chi sisters for my weekend explorations. Thank you to all the friends I made during my time abroad, I am lucky I get to see you all around SMU for the next two years!
