Three Days in Nashville

Y'all Nashville was so fun! I always knew it was the go-to scene for good music but it was better than I imagined. For anyone looking to take a visit to Nashville in the near future, I am sharing where we ate, what we did, and some honorable mentions that we will be visiting during our next trip. We spent three full days in the city with a travel day tacked on each end, but I am going to modify our trip to make it catered towards a weekend visit.

Friday: East Nashville and South Nashville

The Post East

This breakfast spot has multiple gluten-free baked goods, including biscuits, pancakes, and french toast! We went back here twice during our trip because the biscuits were that good.

Axe Throwing

Apparently this is popular in Nashville and was recommended to us by some locals. We were too scared of our lack of hand-eye coordination, but I dare you to try this and update me with how much fun it was.

Burger Up

This lunch spot has gluten free buns and they did a great job of being knowledgable about celiac and other allergies.

Wall Murals

Shop and take pictures at the wall murals near Draper James, Madewell, and other boutiques. This is where the "I Believe in Nashville" mural is located.

Edley's Bar-B-Que

This was recommended by multiple people who have visited or lived in Nashville. We ended up eating somewhere that looked safer for celiac, but I wish we would've eaten here instead.

Live Music and Bars on Broadway

Broadway was similar to Bourbon Street in New Orleans, 6th Street in Austin, and The Strip in Vegas but on a much more tasteful and tame scale. Yes, there were lots of drunk people and bachelorette parties. No, you shouldn't take your little kids here. I loved the live music and the fun vibe and appreciated that it was not out of control.

Saturday: Downtown Nashville

Kitchen Notes

Located inside the Omni Hotel, this restaurant has a biscuit bar on the weekends and they have gluten-free biscuits (which they so kindly shared the recipe for). This is located in the heart of Nashville near most of the museums, so it is a great spot to park and fuel up before sightseeing.

Country Music Hall of Fame

This gets very crowded on the weekends but was worth the wait. It is one block away from Kitchen Notes so you can walk here after breakfast. My favorite part of the museum was all of the retired outfits from various artists performances.

Johnny Cash Museum

We didn't make it to this but if you are a fan, I hear this is a must!

The Well Coffeehouse

This was the best coffee I had the entire trip. They had so many seasonal lattes, I wish I could've gone here every day.

Jason Aldean's Kitchen and Bar

We were so full from our late breakfast and lattes that we got some afternoon nachos here and spent a few hours listening to the amazing artists performing live.

Acme Feed and Seed

If you are hungry for dinner, we saw the best live music of our trip while eating dinner here. They serve typical bar food with a few Nashville additions. Make sure to visit their third floor, it has a beautiful rooftop view of the river.

Concert at Grand Ole Opry

If you are lucky enough to schedule your trip during a concert weekend, I highly recommend getting tickets for a concert at the Grand Ole Opry. If you want to tour the Grand Ole Opry you still have to buy tickets, so why not enjoy some live music instead?

Live Music on Broadway

We didn't plan far enough ahead to get tickets for the concerts happening in Nashville during our trip, so we opted for free live music on Broadway. Make sure to tip the band if you choose this option!

Sunday: Germantown, The Gulch, and Hillsboro Village

Red Bicycle Coffee and Crepes

Gluten-free crepes anyone?! This place was a hole in the wall and I was so glad I was recommended to this hidden gem. We got the chunky monkey to share for the table and each got a savory crepe for ourselves.

Tennessee State Capitol Building

We didn't see this during our trip, but it is a cool stop if you love history or politics.

The Gulch

This is an area of downtown Nashville that is filled with shopping, wall murals, and restaurants. We stopped to take a picture with Nashville's "wings" which had a long line to wait in before we were able to get our photo. Biscuit Love is always packed and popular for tourists to visit but we opted out because they didn't have gluten-free options.

Shop Around Hillsboro Village

This is where the "Drippy Lips" wall is located so we parked and did some window shopping before and after snapping lots of pictures at this wall.

The Grilled Cheeserie

Serving gluten-free bread for an up-charge, this place has some mad versions of grilled cheese.

Cocktails at Nashville Union Station

What better way to end your trip with one last stop on Broadway? We didn't make it to this spot on our trip, but it was on my list the whole time! It is simply a hotel, but the bar looked like a beautiful spot to enjoy a cocktail.

Honorable Mentions

Puckett's BBQ

Hattie B's (not gluten-free)

Rolf and Daughters

Pancake Pantry

Frothy Monkey

Cafe Roze (gluten-free french toast)

Five Daughters Bakery (gluten-free donuts)

Las Paletas Popsicles
